  • A paragraph about your early experiences using Twitter(X)/Instagram for your Personal Learning Network. With whom have you been interacting and how have you found it beneficial? How might Twitter(X)/Instagram be helpful in your future career?

    • The accounts I’ve followed personally have not had much of an effect on my learning and network. I never really enjoyed using social media so that could be the reason as to my feeling on the matter. I don’t see a place for social media in education at all, I see it more as a hindrance. While funny educational videos might be somewhat useful you do also have to consider the other content on these sites.

  • A paragraph about the digital divide. How does the digital divide affect student success in schools? What are some causes of the digital divide? Reflect on what you may experience as a classroom teacher and how this will affect your teaching strategies.

    • The digital divide is a growing issue with todays students, some students still do not have reliable access to technology even though education seems to be moving in that route entirely. From digital workbooks, textbooks, and assignments education is growing ever more digital. This can make it very difficult to complete assignments unlike workbooks and physical texts which can be taken anywhere with or without internet. Digital divide can be caused by anything from poverty to physical area (rural communities), although socioeconomic status is the primary cause. As a teacher I would like to have a very traditional classroom with physical agendas, worksheets, textbooks, etc.

  • A paragraph about academic software for students. Identify two software tools you would like to implement in your future classroom. Describe the software tools and why you would like to use them with your future students.

    • In college, or at least FSU, we use software tools every day. This software, Canvas, is how we see and do assignments as well as communicate with our professors. In my classroom Canvas and possibly ClassDojo, both of these are extremely useful in keeping students organized but also keeping parents informed. This is my primary goal while using these, to keep students updated and on the same page as their peers.
